Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month where we honor the most influential women from all generations that have made contributions to equality for all women and our daughters. Women from all walks of life have forged a path for us to follow in being a change in this world. During a troubling time in my life which I shared in a co-authored book titled Perfectly Imperfect: Seeing Yourself Through the Eyes of God a story of triumph and learning how to love myself again.

However, at the same time I had the distinct honor of collaborating on a book project that is specifically designed for minority women where I highlighted some powerful women who have trail blazed before me such as Sojourner Truth and Viola Baskerville just to name a few (Women in Public Administration: Theory and Practice). I am reminded each day to press hard to continue to make a difference for those that will come behind me.

We have come to love and honor our diverse characteristics, beliefs and values. As women we continue to look to ourselves and other strong women to stand against inequality and injustice. Let us lift each other up so that we walk with a crown on our heads that is steady and firm. So that we walk with grace and beauty while guiding our young with gentle and loving hands. We are creative yet able to overcome struggles that can destroy a gentle soul.

We are virtuous…we are women. Our past does not dictate our future.

My sisters we are fashioned with the same love that created the heavens and the earth with a sacred love that cannot be denied. Proverbs 31 embodies everything we are to achieve in the home and outside the home. We are more than our outer appearance or our past experiences. We each add a unique diverse perspective on life. Let us all stay in unity and lend a helping hand to another sister in need. Let’s be the one to straighten another sisters crown rather than knock it off.

Remember who you are and whose you are -You are a Virtuous Woman.
